MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER
Hello, and thank you for considering partnering with ECI to help meet your manufacturing, process, and business consulting needs. Please allow me a moment to tell you a little bit about our “Why”; our mission, our purpose for doing what we do.
Based on the course of my own life, I must believe my childhood and the influences around me then play a large part in the Now. I attribute much of who I am to being a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and becoming a dedicated Eagle Scout. I know many people do not know much about what that means, so I can only share what it means to me.
I could start with the Boy Scout Law; a scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, etc. I am sure most of you have heard this. However, I won’t just blather someone else’s “code”. Throughout my four decades on this planet, I have had many opportunities to refine my internal message – to develop my own code – and imbue that into the core of ECI.
While my time in Scouts had a big impact on me in my youth, it also steered me towards believing I could do anything. This is part of what makes an individual strong. Overall this is a good thing – but I have had so many awesome experiences and been helped along my path by so many great individuals who became friends, they all helped me become very grateful and want to give back even more.
Okay, get ready to chuckle for a second… along with Scouts, I attribute many other great lessons in my formative years to both the Star Trek series as well as to the MacGyver series! These taught me that anything is actually possible. Any problem can be solved. It just has to be viewed from the proper perspective and ingenuity must be tenaciously applied to a solution!
Now that I have set the stage, I can share that my personal core tenets – and hence, those of ECI – have developed into the following five adjectives.
We at ECI are:
1.) Loyal
We are loyal to our customers – and we are loyal to ourselves. Once a customer chooses ECI, and we choose that customer, we join forces with them to look after their needs. Of course, this must be a dual-sided relationship in order for the scenario to last. In other words, loyalty is two-sided – and it is our number one strength!
2.) Integrous
Although this particular word fell out of common usage in the 18th century, it perfectly hits the nail on the head when describing the ECI team. We maintain integrity in everything we do – and we seek customers who travel the same path. If something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t. We seek knowledge to get to the truth to do the right thing, every time.
3.) Familial
I believe this goes hand-in-hand with the above. ECI is a family-focused company. I have always believed that if things are not “right” at home, they will not be right anywhere else. To extend the metaphor, though; ECI operates like a family internally and we find that our best customer relationships are those wherein we not only really know our customer – but we let them know us as well.
4.) Adaptable
We are adaptable! I think we can all agree that in this day and age, one must constantly adapt while maintaining their personal core and their business core. I have my own basis of who I am and the knowledge I first had when I helped my very first customer (Dorr-Oliver in Canada), but if I did not constantly improve myself through knowledge and experience – and become adaptable in the process – I would have been out of the consulting realm a long time ago. I have been fortunate enough to develop a similarly minded team.
5.) Tenacious
Simply put; we.. do.. not.. QUIT! As we state in all of our open position advertisements, if you apply for a position on my team – the dictionary better have your picture next to the word “Tenacity”! We know how to say “I do not know” and we immediately follow that with “I will find out and solve this for you!” This shall always hold true.
Okay, just a little more about me and then I’ll say farewell.
My education is Mechanical Engineering and my practical experience is in both Engineering as well as creative software development. This combination uniquely helps me walk into any simple or complex environment and see both the constraints as well as the opportunities – and then start solving issues. I love this. I truly enjoy helping people. Now of course; ECI is a business, so there must be a financial side to this help. But at the core of it all, I have always held the following as our absolute center: Solve Problems; Have Fun!
